QUESTION OR TOPICWhat is the most important lesson life taught you?

For years I mistook agreement for support. Every “yes, that sounds great” felt like proof I was on the right track, so I kept collecting more of them, the way you collect anything that feels good and costs nothing.
It took losing real time, on real decisions, to notice the pattern. The people who told me the truth early, even when it was uncomfortable, were the ones who actually respected what I was building. The ones who only agreed were protecting something else, usually the comfort of not having to say a hard thing out loud.
An honest disagreement, said early, is a gift disguised as friction. It costs you a moment of discomfort. Silence costs you months of walking in the wrong direction before reality corrects you anyway, just later and more expensively.
I wish someone had told me this sooner: seek out the people who will tell you when you’re wrong, not the ones who will only tell you when you’re right. Build your closest circle around honesty, not comfort. Everything else compounds from there, both the good decisions and the good relationships.
